WHAT MAKES A WINNER?
Everyone has different views, which is what makes this competition so exciting. Good quality real ales is of course essential, but there is also ambiance, a friendly welcome, value for money ...

Quality of Beer, Cider, Perry
Pretty obvious really – enjoy the taste, and quality comes above choice.
A bar with one or two excellent beers is better than one with many handpumps of mediocre ale.

Atmosphere, style, decor
Is it a nice place to be? Does it have its own character? Or is it an identikit catalogue venue?

Service, welcome
Is service prompt, efficient and friendly? Do you get a full pint?  Are you treated as a customer rather than a revenue stream?

Community focus
Is it inclusive? Does it attract a wide range of clientele? Does it reach out into the local community?

Sympathy with CAMRA's aims
Is real ale promoted positively? Is there information about the beers? Does it promote responsible social drinking? Are tasters offered?

Good Value
Has a visit has been worthwhile, taking into account all factors?

'Magic'
Does the pub have that 'magical' quality that makes you want to tell all your friends about it; and demand a return visit?

VOTING CLOSES AT NOON ON 28th FEBRUARY 2018
